Buddha Eden Garden

Go  visit Quinta dos Loridos, home to the largest oriental garden in Europe, the impressive Buddha Eden.  With about 35 hectares, the garden was created in response to the destruction of the Giant Buddhas of Bamyan, in what was one of the greatest acts of cultural barbarism, erasing masterpieces from the late period of Gandhara's art from memory.

Among buddhas, pagodas, terracotta statues and various sculptures carefully placed among the vegetation, it is estimated that more than 6 thousand tons of marble and granite were used to build this monumental work.

The central staircase is the focal point of the garden, where golden buddhas calmly welcome you.

In the central lake it is possible to observe the KOI fish, and the carved dragons that rise from the water.

You will also have the opportunity to observe the 700 hand-painted terracotta soldiers, each one unique, some of which are buried as they were 2,200 years ago.

Go  discover a unique place of peace and tranquility that will surprise you.

Óbidos Castle

A true historical symbol of Portugal, the  Óbidos Castle  is completely restored nowadays, being this one of the most beautiful castles in activity.

The Óbidos Castle  it is located on a modest cliff on the edge of an extensive beach, which the sea waters have only recently covered. Óbidos can now be proud of the interest that many Portuguese and tourists have in Óbidos Castle.

Óbidos Castle is located in the district of Leiria, in a village that has the same name, the village of Óbidos, belonging to the parish of Santa Maria.

Forming a square, about 30 meters on a side, the castle wall reinforced with cylindrical turrets on the northern and southern sides, as well as on the northwest and southwest corners, and quadrangular towers on the northeast and southeast sides, this surrounds a terreiro in which the Paço do Alcaide, whose ruins gave a new life. A project was worked on a few years ago that contained the intention to restore the Castle. This restoration was carried out through the Directorate General of National Buildings and Monuments.

A very robust tower, sweetened to the western face of the wall, is part of the castle complex. The eastern side of the wall constitutes, better to say, the core part of the one that surrounds the castle and the town, and that extends on both sides towards the south. This one that will give rise to a pointed clasp, having traveled about half a kilometer, of the so-called Torre do Facho, thus creating the shape of an isosceles triangle.

As a whole, the Óbidos Castle represents the final phase of a series of constructions that can be closely monitored.

This Castle was mentioned as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal in 2007, being classified as a Municipal Monument.
