The Berlengas are a small archipelago made up of granitic islands, which are located to the west of the  Cape Carvoeiro  in  Peniche , on the coast of Portugal.
Berlengas is a unique place in Portugal, located 15 km from the west coast of Peniche.
Comprising three islets – Berlenga Grande, Estelas and Farilhões-Forcados, Berlenga stands out for representing about ⅔ of its total surface.
Contemplated as a Nature Reserve, the natural beauty of this small Portuguese archipelago is incredible, being a paradisiacal place and a must-visit.
It has been considered a protected area since 1465, when the   King Afonso V prohibited any type of actions against the  nature  in that place, and since 2011, it has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve by Unesco.
The Berlengas are composed of three islets, Berlenga Grande, Estelas and Farilhões-Forcados, the first being the most representative and divided into two parts due to a seismic fault - Berlenga Grande (⅔ of the island) and Ilha Velha (representing the smaller part of the island).
The Berlengas Nature Reserve has 2 km of trails to get a closer look at the scenic beauty present here, as there are numerous and wonderful caves attracting more and more tourists to the place.
